  • You, your kids, and honestly, anyone who wants to. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is incredibly effective for self-defense and fitness, but it’s also safe and can be trained at your own pace and ability level.

  • Jiu Jitsu is a unique martial art in that we do a lot of real sparring (often called “rolling”). There is no more risk of injury than you would find in most sports. As a relatively gentle martial art, most people who train do not experience injuries.

  • No. In fact, the majority of Jiu Jitsu practitioners never compete in tournaments. While we see a lot of value in competition, we also recognize that people come to Jiu Jitsu for many different reasons. Some of our students love to compete, but there is never any expectation to do so.

  • Our youth students have fun learning Jiu Jitsu while developing lifelong skills such as confidence, problem-solving, and healthy habits. We see incredible benefits as kids learn to handle conflict, bully-proof themselves, and grow through Jiu Jitsu as both a martial art and a sport.

  • If you’re new to Jiu Jitsu, expect your first day to be relaxed and informative. Every single person on the mats was once exactly where you’re starting. You’ll find that many people are excited to help you out. There’s no pressure to spar or do anything overly physical — we meet you at your readiness level.

  • Trial lessons take place during our regular group classes, giving you a true feel for the training environment and what classes are like. This helps ensure there are no surprises and that Jiu Jitsu is a great fit for you or your child.

After you register, simply choose a class from our schedule and plan to arrive about 15 minutes early so we can introduce ourselves and show you around the academy. Wear comfortable workout attire and be ready to train barefoot on the mats.

Classes are one hour long and include a warm-up, technique instruction, and guided partner work in a safe and controlled environment. New students are paired with experienced training partners, and instructors are always there to help and answer questions.
